Apprenticeships In Kidderminster
Pupil’s finishing school may think that staying on at sixth form is their only choice, or that results mean the route first planned may not be an option. Think again!
At Nova Training there is a wide variety of options for young people aged 16 to 18 regardless of exam results. Joining a 16 to 18 Headstart programme at Nova lets people have an individual learning plan, matched to their future aspirations which allows them to learn, earn and gain qualifications, ultimately progressing to the next stage of their chosen careers.
Eligible learners can access bursary funds to support them financially throughout their programme.
Nova Training was inspected by Ofsted in December 2013 and received an overall grade of ‘good’ with many outstanding features.
Its success has allowed it to operate a number of youth and adult training programmes with training centres in Birmingham, Bilston, Cannock, Dudley, Hereford, Oldbury, Redditch, Stafford, Telford, Walsall, Wellington, West Bromwich, Willenhall and Wolverhampton, Brownhills, Lye, Kidderminster, Bridgenorth.
With Nova’s unique Headstart 16-18 programme young people will be supported to identify a career, perfect their skills, gain essential qualifications and explore the world of work, right the way through to a full apprenticeship. Learners who are eligible will receive payments to support their learning. Headstart learners benefit from a great range of vocational subjects including construction, motor vehicle, hospitality, business administration, customer service, retail, beauty courses and hairdressing.
All of which are supported by functional skills and high quality work placements.
With partnerships in place with Sport England and the FA, learners can also take part in the annual Nova Games and a range of other sporting activities, all fully funded.
These courses are a great alternative to staying on at school and college and we have around 1,600 16-18 year olds participating each year. With a wide range of opportunities on offer many continue on a seamless route through Nova’s apprenticeship programme.
Apprenticeships in hair and beauty, warehousing, retail, sales, hospitality, business admin, customer service and of course the well known range of automotive training in maintenance and repair, accident body repair, paint refinishing and vehicle fit, provide a variety of options whatever your career choice.
Apprenticeship provision is tailored to the needs of the employers and only the most committed individuals and supportive employers are recruited.
The apprenticeship course lasts for a minimum of one year and focuses on the skills, knowledge and behaviours required in the workplace. Apprentices earn a wage and many employers include incentives for high achievers.
This year huge success was celebrated with two apprentices taking part in the IMI Autoskills competition and finishing third and fourth in England.
The apprentices worked very hard with their employer and their Nova assessor preparing for the UK heats. Nova is already working with apprentices who will compete in next years’ heats and hopefully be selected for the National squad in Worldskills at the NEC in November 2016 and beyond to Worldskills Abu Dhabi in 2017.
